Our Voice
Solar is not just clean energy;
it's a smart business decision.
We believe as leaders in our industry we have a duty to ensure that money coming from taxpayers (in the form of state and federal credits, grants, and exemptions) and ratepayers are being used ethically and are maximized for strengthening businesses in America to create jobs and fuel our economy.
We believe that commercial distributed energy through solar net metering is a solution to helping America reach its Renewable Portfolio Standards “RPS” in an ethical and sustainable way. Net metered solar establishes many advantages for American businesses and helps strengthen local company’s by lowering their operating costs, reducing their tax liabilities which enables them to become a stronger employer and business to compete against foreign companies, and provide sustainable jobs in America. These American businesses are producing clean renewable energy where it is needed, when needed, by high energy consumers, and thereby relieving pressure on the grid. When energy is utilized close to its generation source, transmission issues are significantly reduced and attenuation is less. Solar power in particular produces power at a time when large amounts of power are being consumed from the grid. Solar installations primarily occur on most commercial entities rooftops, land, and parking areas. These installations occur on already disturbed land and are zoned accordingly having minimal impact to the existing environment. Net metering through commercial distributed energy we feel is an ethical way to protect citizen’s investment, help solve America’s economical crisis, strengthen business, create jobs, and to aid in our national defense.
We believe solar-energy has certain advantages when compared to other power generation systems. Solar-energy can offer supply and price stability relative to fossil-fuel-fired systems. This form of energy can be deployed in many sizes and configurations and doesn’t produce air, water, or noise emissions or pollutants. Other end-use power-generation technologies create environmental impacts of some sort. The current high up-front cost of solar power can be a barrier to adoption, but with solar energy incentives available in many regions, solar-generated power is less expensive than its traditionally produced alternatives. Moreover, it is projected that solar power will reach cost parity with fossil-fuel generated power by 2015.
We believe that solar third party ownership models should be used ethically and encouraged only for projects and businesses that are using them for their intended purpose. Many projects are being funded unethically and allowing for taxpayer and ratepayer money to leave America. If this continues the solar industry in America will greatly diminish as funds, and utility driven incentives go away because of budget issues and the small impact of stimulating America’s economy. The negative impact will be substantial on the Companies that are using them ethically and providing financial services to organizations such as, schools, non-profits entities, government, municipalities, and businesses without the ability to have a system on their balance sheet.
